We’re really making biscuits, now
My first experience selling at the Corvallis Fall Festival went pretty swell, although super kudos to Steve and Rose Wren of Wren Song Pottery for making an absolute killing, like me fresh out of the gate and clearly in mid-season form. My sales paled in comparison, but Steve and Rose made all of us, newbies and old timers alike, pale in comparison. They have something going on that resonates.
The downside to that is that they were pretty much depleted of their stock, something that I was tossing and turning about, given my commitment to the monthly Artisan Market at Common Fields (next one, Saturday, October 14, noon-7 p.m.). I needn’t have worried, however. My mezcal copas all sold, so I’ll want to try to spin out a few of those in the next couple of weeks, and a duck left the nest along with some kitchen prep bowl sets. But I’ll still have plenty to pitch at the next event.
Don’t get me wrong… there are worse problems to have than being sold out. That said, it would give one a sense of needing to get cracking, especially if one is “small batch” (meaning kinda slow) like the Wrens and I are. But how incredibly validating it must be!
