Goat-footed ‘giving bowl’

Kitchen prep bowls

I sat down with a tech savvy nephew over the past couple of days to revamp my website. So here it is. And here are some things that came out of my latest kiln firing, only the second glaze fire I’ve done on my own. I have some little pinched and coiled kitchen prep bowls that I fiddled with while on a recent camping trip to Paulina Lake in Central Oregon. Some were pressed up against surrounding Ponderosa Pine trees. These little bowls are like those you see in cooking shows when various ingredients are measured out ahead and are ready to add a recipe as one cooks.

Coffee or tea mugs are not really my thing. The market is pretty saturated with them, in any case. That said, I do like building small beer steins with animal figures on them. We won’t quibble with the fact that a cousin uses his as big coffee mugs. What ever rocks your boat, y’all.

Also on the docket are some mezcal/tequila copas, adorned with an agave beetle on the bottom as opposed to a worm. The interior glaze was applied a little in the heavy side, so the beetles aren’t as crisp as I’d like them to be. I’ll be selling these as ‘seconds’.

Be on the lookout for these things and more at the Common Fields Artisan Market in Corvallis on September 9 and in the Willamette Ceramics Guild booth at the ¡Corvallis Fall Festival! on September 23 & 24. I’ve hit the Big Time, baby; I’m cookin’ with gas; yep, I’m really makin’ biscuits now!

And now I’ve got to figure out how to migrate on my earlier posts to this new site. Hm.
